Arrival Procedures
Attendance
- “In accordance with the state law, students must be in attendance for at least 90% of the days of the school year to be considered for promotion to the next grade level. Parents must send a note upon return to school.”
- If your student is absent, please send a note to the office the following day describing the reason for the absence.
- An email to your child’s teacher is also an acceptable form of written documentation.
- If there is a persistent attendance issue, the office staff may conduct a home visit.
Bell Schedule
Birthdays & Book Returns
- Birthdays
- Students receive a special pencil and birthday ribbon from the principal.
- Parents may bring party favors to be given to your child’s classmates (pencils, stickers, etc.) by the teacher if you choose.
- Please do not send candy, food, or drink items.
- These party favors must be brought to the office by a parent by 2:15 p.m.
- The office staff will deliver them within 20 minutes before dismissal (2:35).
- Arrangements must be made in advance with the classroom teacher.
- Students receive a special pencil and birthday ribbon from the principal.
- Book Return
- Parents are responsible for all books not returned to school including textbooks, library books, and guided reading books. All library books must be returned in order to check out a new book. If a guided reading library book is lost, the parent is responsible for a $10 fee toward replacing the set.
Dismissal Procedures
- School dismisses at 2:55 pm.
- Every grownup must have a car tag in order to pick up their child. Please ask the office or your child's teacher if you need a new one.
- The District’s Code of Conduct states that all students must be picked up no later than 20 minutes after dismissal.
- There will be no supervision after 3:15 pm.
- Please make sure your child/children know how they will be picked up from school everyday i.e. car rider, walker, van rider. This ensures your child will be at the correct “pick-up” spot after school.
- Please help us to keep everyone safe by obeying all traffic laws.
Early Dismissal
- In order to maximize instruction time, students will not be released or called from their classroom after 2:30 pm.
- If you have to pick up your child early from school, please do so by 2:25 pm.
- If you pick up your child early for a doctor or dentist appointment, you are required to bring a note from the doctor/dentist to the office the next day.
Lunch Visits
Coming to Visit for Lunch?
- Monday through Thursday your child(ren) will develop his/her social skills by eating with his/her peers.
- If you would like to eat lunch with your child(ren), please visit during lunch on the designated Fridays.
- Please sign in at the office to receive a visitor’s badge.
- Be prepared to show your ID

Uniform Policy
Dear Parents of Farmers Branch Elementary Mustangs:
Our number one priority at FBE is to provide your child with the best, positive learning experience in a safe environment. We believe that standardized dress (uniforms) has a positive impact on both students’ learning and their behavior.
Farmers Branch Elementary will be consistently enforcing the following dress code guidelines, which are more comprehensive than the CFBISD Dressing and Grooming Guidelines.
We want you to have this information in advance, so that as you purchase “back to school” clothing, it adheres to the following guidelines.
Jackets, Sweaters, and Sweatshirts
- Must be solid colors (see acceptable colors below) – no designs – exceptions are FBE sweatshirts or FBE jackets are permitted. Both FBE sweatshirts and FBE jackets are available for purchase in the FBE office.
- Acceptable solid colors are red, white, and navy blue
Leggings or Jeggings
- If leggings or jeggings are worn, they must be worn underneath a skirt or shorts.
- Must be solid colors (see acceptable colors below) – no designs
- Acceptable solid colors are red, white, navy blue, black, or gray.
Undershirts, Underwear, or Tank Tops worn under White Uniform Shirts
- Must be white
Blue Jeans – Fridays only with FBE Spirit Wear
- Fridays are the only day that jeans are allowed and must be worn with FBE spirit wear. Both FBE sweatshirts and FBE t-shirts are available for purchase in the FBE office.
- Jeans should be solid color – no designs
- Jeans should be dark blue in color – no other colors are allowed (red, pink, green, aqua, etc.)
