Building Transition Information

Why are we moving? Why is the current building being torn down?
In 2023, the community voted to approve a Bond that includes rebuilding Farmers Branch Elementary. Our current building has served students and families for nearly 60 years, and the new campus will provide modern learning spaces designed to better support the needs of our students for generations to come.

How will students learn the new building?
We will intentionally introduce students to the new campus through tours, orientation activities, and guided opportunities to practice routines. Our goal is to help every Mustang feel comfortable and confident navigating their new learning environment.

Will we still have the same clubs and activities?
Yes! At FBE we value the academic, social, and emotional growth of our students. We plan to continue offering clubs and enrichment opportunities for our Mustangs.

How will we help students feel connected during the transition?
We will create experiences and traditions that honor the history of Farmers Branch Elementary while building excitement for our future. Our goal is to maintain the strong sense of community that makes FBE special.

What will arrival and dismissal look like at the temporary campus?
Our staff is working closely with district operations to develop safe and efficient arrival and dismissal procedures. Before school begins, families will receive detailed information including maps, videos, and step-by-step directions.

Will bus routes be available to FBE students?
Yes. Bus routes will be available for students. Families will receive route and bus stop information before school begins. An interest survey will go out in early April to survey families that may be interested in bus transportation 

Will there be maps to help families with traffic directions?
Yes. Traffic flow maps and directions will be shared with families before the start of school to help make arrival and dismissal smooth and safe.

How will parking be communicated to staff and families?
Before the school year begins, we will share parking maps, traffic flow plans, and directions through email, social media, and our website.

How will families be notified about updates during the transition?
We will communicate regularly through ParentSquare, newsletters, social media, text alerts, and our campus website to ensure families receive timely updates.

Will Google and other online platforms update our school address?
Yes. The district communications team will ensure that updated information appears on Google and other official platforms.

What safety measures will be in place at the new building and the FBE North Campus?
Student and staff safety is our top priority. Both the FBE North Campus and the new FBE building will include intrusion-resistant safety glass, secured buildings with controlled access points, and a dual-entry vestibule requiring visitors to check in through the front office before entering the building.

Additionally, all campuses will have a dedicated armed security officer on site at all times. These measures work alongside district safety protocols and staff training to ensure a safe learning environment for our Mustangs.

How will visitors enter the building?
Visitors will use the intercom at the front doors of the school, and show their ID before being allowed to come through the main entrance. They will check in at the front office before being granted access to the rest of the campus.

Will school supplies be available for purchase?
Yes. School supplies will be available for purchase at our first campus event to help families prepare for the school year.
